BG’s Folly, a handsome eight-year-old and who proved somewhat of a half-mile track specialist, is the first son of boom American sire Rocknroll Hanover ever to stand in Victoria.

BG’s Folly had just two starts at two but was timed in 1:56.2 at his very first pari-mutuel appearance.

However, at three BG’s Folly really came into his own. As a three-year-old he won $555,025 racing against top horses such as Rock N Roll Heaven (1:47.6), One More Laugh (1:47.8), Rockin Image (1:48.4) and Delmarvalous (1:48.4) and, as such, was Rocknroll Hanover’s second richest son in three-year-old earnings in 2010.

He took his record of 1:49.2 at three years, winning the $500,000 New Jersey Classic at The Meadowlands, in which he defeated the Breeders Crown winner All Speed Hanover in a new stakes record.

A winner on all-sized tracks, BG’s Folly’s other notable accomplishments included wins in the $76,500 Junior Trendsetter, an elimination of the $600,000 Confederation Cup (second in final from post 7) and the Jersey Cup and minor placings in the Oliver Wendell Holmes and the Breeders Crown elimination.

Hall of Fame reinsman Brian Sears, who handled him in several of his major Stakes wins, said: “When BG’s Folly was on his game he could go with anyone. He’s a very impressive horse with size and gait.”

One of the best credentialled importations to come to this country, BG’s Folly stood his first season at the prestige Emerald Ridge Farm in Ontario where he was joined to a strong book of mares

A striking brown horse, foaled in 2007, BG’s Folly was bred on a classic cross of blood – that of Rocknroll Hanover his sire and Artsplace his maternal sire – the same cross that produced the world champion Rock N Roll Heaven and the Breeders Crown winner Put On A Show (1:47.6).

Rocknroll Hanover, sire of BG’s Folly, was twice the leading sire in North America and topped the two and three-year-old list on several occasions. He is the sire of 63 on the 1:50 list, 398 in 1:55, eight world champions and the winners of more than
$100-million.

Art Amour (1:54.6), the dam of BG’s Folly, was one of the many grand producing daughters of a champion sire in Artsplace (1:49.4) being out of Die Loving (1:52), by Die Laughing, and is the dam of two in 1:50, BG’s Folly 1:49.2 and Rockeyed Optimist 1:48. a Stakes winner in America this year.

This family traces back to the outstanding matron Shy Ann, dam of a champion filly in Adios Betty, dam of Tarport Kid, Tarport Coulter and Tarport Boy – all successful ‘Down Under’ Sires. Other leading stallions belonging to this noted family include Beach Towel, Atashy, Exotic Earl, Dick Adios, Captain Adios and Magical Mike.
