Overview
A member of the dominant Abercrombie sireline, and out of the broodmare gem New
Arrival, the dam of seven in 2:00, It Is I was an outstanding racehorse,
winning 19 of his 24 starts for David Murphy in an injury interrupted career.
It Is I, as a two
and three-year-old, was a racing sensation. He won at his first nine
appearances highlighted by a heat of the Victoria Derby and, after an injury
setback, returned to the racetracks winning in free-for-all
company. There is no doubt that he had he remained sound he would have
measured up against the top bracket in Australia and New Zealand
An upstanding young
horse, It Is I has been greatly in demand with breeders since entering stud in
2006 and his first crop – now rising two-year-olds – are showing up
as natural, bold pacers. He promises to have some interesting two-year-old
runners from his first small crop (31 foals) in the new season.
It Is I is a son of Golden Greek, a free-legged world champion and a
leading sire of two and three-year-olds in Australia. Golden Greek has sired
the winners of over $14million in stakes and to this stag is credited with more
than 100 in the 2:00 list.
New Arrival, the dam
of It Is I, has stamped herself as one of the finest broodmares of all-time.
Besides It Is I, she is also the dam of a classics-winning filly in La Speranza
1:59 (dam of Il Tenore 1:55.7 – Aust. 2YO record and Armida –
Bathurst Gold Tiara), Nudge 1:56.1, Laser Edge 1:58.4 and Late Arrival 1:59.2.
A full sister to New
Arrival in Girl Called Destiny really established the Rita’s Pride family to
some purpose. Girl Called Destiny was the dam of the Australian Pacing Gold
winner Donna Who, Son Of Greek 1:54.6 and No Share Girl 1:59 and the grand-dam
of Wholigan 1:57.2, I Dont Share 1:57.6 and As It It In Heaven 1:58.4. |

with real distinction at Grand Circuit level, winning the Group 2 $50,000 Legends Mile at Moonee Valley in 1:57.3, in which he defeated Sokyola and
